Hosting
A call out for hosts with the most!
What are the benefits of hosting or being hosted?
Hosting is a great way to get to know other dancers from Australia and around the world. Your generosity is often reciprocated and you may find you have a bed when you go to other exchanges! It can be fun showing off your local area and sharing the weekend together with someone as crazy about dancing as you are.
What does hosting involve?
As a host, your role is to offer a bed to visiting dancers, breakfast, bathroom facilities and tips on getting around. Anything more than that is up to you to discuss with your guests. You are only expected to host your guest for the length of the exchange. Any longer than that is up to you to discuss with your guests before they arrive.
It is often appreciated if you can pick up your guests from the airport, and/or give your guests a lift to events, as there is limited public transport (only buses and taxis).
If you are unable to do this it is appreciated if you can ensure your guests can have lifts with other locals to get to/from the airport and events.
As a guest
You should keep in touch in with your host, let them know when you are planning to arrive and depart, respect their space and property, and let them know you appreciate the bed. Please only use your host's phone and internet access if it is offered to you.
If you have special requirements you will need to discuss these with your host prior to arriving. E.g. transport, any allergies to pets, preference for late or early nights and meals. Make sure you check out the night buses by visiting Canberra's bus network at Action Buses.
How can I be hosted or host someone?
Simply complete the hosting section of the registration form when you register. We will then do our best to match you up with the most suitable host/guest. This will need to be completed no later than Friday the 24th July, to allow time for hosts and guests to be allocated and then time for you to contact your respective host/guest.
If for whatever reason you are unable to register by 24th July, but you would like to register to be a host or guest, please email hosting ASAP.
