Jumptown is thrilled to present JitterBlast, the newest dance fitness program to hit our shores. Created by World Lindy Hop Champion and fitness trainer Nick Williams, JitterBlast uses high-energy moves from swing dances like Lindy Hop, Charleston and Vintage Jazz, with some classic Hollywood film dance moves thrown in.

JitterBlast Canberra is taught by Jumptown’s very own Amanda and Ricky who recently completed their training in Melbourne with Nick Williams. This intense total-body workout mixes kicking, plyometric movement, and core building exercises – which shape muscle and improve balance, flexibility, and daily energy levels. The program utilizes interval-style training designed for burning calories and cardiovascular health. Without knowing it, you will be a learning a foundation of technique in swing and jazz dance that will inspire even professionally trained dancers.

You definitely don’t have to be an experienced dancer to come along. This is an environment welcoming of all ages, genders, fitness levels and dance abilities. There’s no partner required as JitterBlast is a solo dance format. Because this is a dance fitness program, it’s not about getting the moves right. It’s about harnessing the Jitterbug spirit and just having a good time. What you put into the workout is what you get out of it.

Classes are held every Saturday morning at 9:30am and run for 45 minutes. There’s no need to register beforehand, just come along in your gym gear – and don’t forget your water bottle!
